Kinda need to watch the wrap on the handle. Each piece of the guard is made of two pieces of metal that snap together. As a display piece, this is perfect as is. I saw this same sword in a shop for $62 so this is a great deal. yes it will cut through nails, flesh, bone and put a good chip in a solid hunk of steel or another sword for that matter. If the metal is up to "standard" the form of the sword and especially the handguards should make them a match for any but most massive historical blade. I'm not overly disappointing that it broke; for $30 i expected it, and in some ways wanted it, to so i could make it my own. !theres only two problems that i have(not major though)

I became determined to break it to find out its limits. Anyone who wants a spartan sword need look no further. It weighs 4.3 lbs and you do not want to be on the business end of this monster. It's really pointy and can go tho a lot of stuff, it ain't that sharp but it is easy to sharpen it though. This is NOT like the Greek kopis [that's right it was not just Spartan] but is modeled upon it. for function i want the same thing in a recreational piece as i'd need for actual self-def, which is to be easy to wield, same goes for all weapons for me the grip has to be right and balance/etc. Amazing. Solid, wicked-looking sword. very poorly designed handle, I to have had to repair both the handle itself and the leather wrap. VERY loose. I can't Understand why they would put such a Crappy Handle on a great blade When I got it, the Handle Narrow at the shoulders and widening towards the tapered and curved tip. It was in great condition and came quick! I just used the accusharp to sharpen it, sharpened like a beauty. Just cut off the pleather and made my own grip. In fact, it is the heaviest sword I have ever handled. It's larger than I thought, but I actually like it's size compared to the ones in the movie. Its ok, except it is cheaply made the handle falls apart, it was never made good. All in all, great sword, very sturdy. No one knows what Leonidas' real sword looks like. If you try to take wide swings with it, the handle guard does tend to get in the way anyways, so it's better off without it. I haven't killed a bear with it yet, but I bet I could. Did you ever want to explore your spartan roots and run around in metallic underwear screaming bloody obscenities while holding a sword? It would not be easy for someone to recover from a full slash or thrust of these.
No scabbards but for price I would Not expect them.
Cant tell you about "quality" of the metal as it will be months before im strong enough to use them for the cardio and strength training I bought them for.
